What If I harnessed the power of now | Mumma Life is now

mindfulness power of now time Aug 15, 2022

We all know that time is precious. And as mums, we often feel like we don't have enough of it. This is because we constantly juggle our time between work, family and social commitments. And it can be challenging.

But what if we could harness the power of now?

It was only once I escaped the hold of a toxic relationship that I discovered the power of now.

Having been in that relationship for eleven years, I spent my time hiding (literally) and suppressing how I felt out of fear of judgement and failure.

As I was a child of divorced parents, I did not want to become part of the statistics, so instead of listening to my heart and respecting the preciousness of time, I chose to suppress how I was feeling and instead allowed myself to live a mundane life, where I gave away my power and did not respect the power of now.

The truth is, life became so mundane that what I looked forward to the most was eating and going to sleep at night. That's not living.

No wonder why I have been battling and continue to combat emotional eating. Eating was a way I escaped. It gave me joy and suppressed what I was unwilling to feel, and I feared the repercussions of honouring those feelings.

If I were to honour my feelings, my marriage wouldn't have lasted so long. What would people have thought? How would others treat me? It could have meant that I may not have been able to become a mum (thankfully, that didn't happen for us).

In hindsight, these thoughts are so restrictive, but back then, at that moment, they were genuine to me.

It wasn't until I started to trust myself more that I could respect the power of now. And once I did that, everything changed.

Now, I am more present in my life. I savour every moment.

Learning to live in the present moment can help us to make the most of our time. It can help us to be more productive and efficient with our time. And it can also allow us to find more enjoyment and satisfaction in life.

So how can we harness the power of now?

One way is to practice mindfulness. Mindfulness is about living in the present moment and paying attention to our thoughts, feelings and sensations. It can help us to slow down and appreciate life more.

If you are anything like me and have a mind that struggles to slow down, this can be a challenge; however, with practice, I have developed this skill (even with my restless mind).

Another way to harness the power of now is to savour the moment. This means taking the time to appreciate the good things in life, even if they are just small moments.

Finally, we can also harness the power of now by learning to let go. This means letting go of our negative thoughts and emotions and living in the present moment.

Harnessing the power of now can help us to make the most of our time and find more enjoyment in life. So why not give it a try?

The name of my business, Mumma life is now, honours the preciousness of time and that the moment we stop living in the now, we stop truly living.

Remember that you always have been and always will be enough until next time!
